Organizers are working hard to launch the inaugural Asia/Pacific Championship presented by the SoHG. Peter van Eekelen, chair of New Zealand Hickory Golf, reports that the event, scheduled for March 2024, is being organized around the 18-hole championship scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 at the Christchurch Golf Club in Christchurch, N.Z. The SoHG is sponsoring a trophy for the event (shown below). Players from Australia, New Zealand, Japan and perhaps the U.S., are expected. (The U.S. is part of the Pacific Ocean community.) An optional round for interested players is to be offered on March 6. On Thursday, March 7, a foursome/singles event is scheduled for the Tai Tapu Golf Club. On the 8th, New Zealand and Australian hickory players square off for the Anzac Flask. Additional hickory outings are to be offered on both the 9th and 10th.
