Join us this Spring at Soangetaha Country Club to reunite with friends and play on a course that was designed for hickory golf. This beautiful 1890’s parkland style course was revised and expanded by Tom Bendelow in the 1920s. Its layout has a beautiful gently rolling topography, manicured fairways and greens and interesting challenges throughout. It should also be noted that our hosts George and Mary Burgland and the staff at Soangetaha always make us feel very welcome. More info is available at www.soangetaha.com/golf.

We will be playing pre-1935, modern hickory in a stroke play format Saturday and Sunday. We will play in three divisions: Open, Senior and Statesman. Trophies will be awarded for Champion and Reserve (net handicap) winners. A Ladies Trophy is also waiting for a winner. A practice round is optional on Friday the 17th. In addition, we will host our 4-person, best-shot scramble on Sunday. This 18-hole event encourages local players to play hickory and gives regular hickory players a one-day event to enjoy. We expect to field five or six foursomes, new players, old players, and ladies. You can assemble your own team, or we will assist in grouping foursomes.  (We will schedule tee times on Saturday for players who come for the weekend but choose to play in the Scramble.)

Details for our Friday Welcome Event and our Sunday Awards Lunch will be announced later. The Soangetaha membership is considering the replacement of the current clubhouse.  For dinner Saturday night we are again invited back to George & Mary Burgland’s home. They hosted us last year for a fabulous Italian dinner that was a real treat. Spouses are welcome at all events; an additional “Guest Fee” for food is listed on the registration form.
