Results of 4th annual Alexander Findlay Massachusetts Hickory Open

May 18, 2019

Bill Conant of the Hickory Golfers of Massachusetts reports:

The 4th annual Alexander Findlay, Massachusetts Hickory Open was held at the historic Country Club of Greenfield on Friday, May 17. Thirty-two players from six countries and eight states participated and we were pleased that Ed Ronco, SoHG president, also played in the event while visiting family in Connecticut.

Gary Melanson from New Brunswick, Canada, spent three nights in his motor coach under the pines at the club, but emerged to shoot a blistering 72 to set the tournament record and take first low gross. Bill Wardwell, from the host course, was hot on his heals and shot 75 to take 1st low net. Both will have their names engraved on the prestigious Findlay Trophy.

Stableford winners are as follows:
1st low Gross: Steve Wilcox, Westfield, N.J.
2nd low Gross: Francis Flood, Avon, Conn.
3rd low Gross: Bill Conant, Greenfield, Mass.

1st low net: Dave Beamer, N. Dartmouth, Mass.
2nd low net: Chris Gilgun, Uxbridge, Mass.
3rd low net: Peter Nowlan, Randolph, Vt.

Irene Dionne, Hampton, Conn., took home the Inaugural Participant Plaque.

As always the staff at CCoG, lead by Professional Kevin  Piecuch, PGA, SoHG, and his assistant, Josh Cook, ran a great event and deserve a special thanks.

Thanks to all who came and participated in the event.
