Chris Ream reports on planning for 2023:

A quick update on what is happening with the 2023 Canadian Open hickory championship and an invite to participate. And for our U.S. friends,  if you are looking to escape to a cooler climate you should note that in all of recorded weather history, Edmonton has never hit 100 degrees F. Of course the 74 cent Canadian vs. U.S. dollar helps, too.

The closest airport is Edmonton International Airport, about 30 minutes from the golf course. If numbers warrant we will again do the popular U.S./Canada Ryder cup competition on the Thursday. If numbers are not there, we will go with plan B!

Here’s what’s planned for 2023:

1) Monday/Tuesday, Aug. 7/8 – pre-tournament road trip involves golf at prominent local courses. Stay tuned!

2) Wednesday, Aug. 9 – the popular Wednesday scramble.
As in the past, entry fee will be $25 per person with the top teams paid with the pot split on a percentage basis.

3) Thursday, Aug. 10 – Ryder Cup-style competition for the Casey Cup continues.

4) Friday, Aug. 11 – The 18-hole Canadian Open Championship.
Groups will be pre-set and tee times to be determined.
The meal and presentations are planned for outdoors at the Golf Car Museum after the round.
