Pay-It-Forward Auld Gawf Challenge
June 22 - June 23
The Wisconsin Hickory Players is pleased to invite hickory golfers to its 10th annual “PIF” Auld Gawf Challenge.
Choose to play the main gutty event on Saturday or in Sunday’s Three Centuries of Auld Gawf in Three Hours. Or play both. The choice is yours.
Our Green Bay regional host course is Thornberry Creek at Oneida. The course is fair but challenging and ideal for auld gawf. Players can choose to keep the ball low or bomb it. The superintendent cuts holes in front of the greens, simulating the green speed of the Jones-Hagen era. Players go round twice, playing to different tee zones. You’re assured that no hole is ever the same.
Saturday’s event includes two divisions, Park Gutty or Braid, plus a fun scramble. Last year’s champions were Ernie Ernst in the Park division; and Keith Hanson in the Braid.
Following golf, everyone convenes at the Jim and Judy Koss residence for an afternoon filled with tasty BBQ, wee nips (toxic & non-toxic), unequalled camaraderie, commemorative keepsake group poster and iconic priceless prizes, where everyone wins a prize.
On Sunday, there’s one division for the 4th annual Three Centuries of Auld Gawf in Three Hours: six holes with the Lane feathery, six with the McIntyre Park or Braid, and six with the McIntyre JH Taylor or Brown. Players carry three clubs, two of which must have wood heads. Mel Nieuwenhuis is the defending champion.
Players pay their own respective green fees and bring their own beverages for the afternoon gathering. Everything else is “PIF.”
Over the last decade, Pay-It -Forward has benefited numerous charitable causes – determined by each individual player. “PIF” has no boundary, some choose financial while others prefer acts of kindness.
Easy Registration
There is no formal registration. If you want to play or if you have any questions, contact the event director, Jim “Wally” Koss: wallywinsagain@gmail.com.
