Equipment Guidelines – Gutty Era Approved Clubs

The following types of clubs have been approved for SoHG sanctioned Gutty Era tournaments:

  1. ANTIQUE HICKORY SHAFTED CLUBS.
    This category is for equipment whose club heads were made prior in the gutty and feather ball eras and conform with all aspects of these clubs as defined in the SoHG 19th Century Club Guidelines. Refer to these guidelines for allowable renovations and all other information not mentioned here.
  2. MODERN REPRODUCTION HICKORY SHAFTED CLUBS.
    This category is for equipment made to replicate, as nearly as possible, clubs that were made for the gutty and feather ball eras.

    Spoon
    Putter
    Transitional Series:
    Driver
    Spoon
    20 Degree, 30 Degree, 40 Degree, & 50 Degree Irons
    Rut Niblick
  • Louisville Golf Co.
    Long Nose Driver
    Long Nose Spoon
    J. Wilson Transitional Driver
    J. Wilson Transitional Spoon
  • Kelly Leonard
    Gutty and feathery era replica woods
    Seven-eight different types of clubs replicating a dozen or more early club makers.

Clubs that fall outside the above mentioned criteria are not approved for tournament play by the SoHG and are discouraged from being used. Members of the SoHG should verify that their guests, or potential new members be equipped with clubs that fall into one of the preceding categories.
