Hudson and Georgeaide Rise at Mid-South

Andrew Hudson and Bob Georgiade took the top spots at the 2024 Mid-South Hickory Golf Classic played at the Course at Sewanee on May 18-19. A field of 36 competed in the stableford-scored to handicapped quota event. Hudson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) bested the open division with Rich Grula (Winterpark, Fla.) finishing second, and Brent Ronald (Knoxville, Tenn.) rounding out the platform.  In the Senior Division, Georgiade survived a brisk challenge by second place finisher, Larry Spittler (Maryville, Tenn.) and Otey Crisman (Prattville, Ala.) to claim the title. With a 10-point improvement, Ronald also claimed the event’s coveted Lazarus trophy, which is won by the player with the most improvement from day one to day two.  While the golf and competition were great, it pales to the fellowship, camaraderie and hospitality which are hallmarks of the event.  That is the goal of event organizers, Mike Cline, Deal Hudson, Karl Nagy, David Shultz, and Ronald. As always it was complete with Mint Juleps where the mint comes from Bobby Jones’ own Eastlake garden!
