Inwood CC perfect for 2023 USHO – Metro Hickory Society

Bill Martin reports:

Gents,

Most of us who pursue the roots of golf in America tend to look for unique experiences. Inwood CC this past Wednesday, Aug. 17, certainly provided a truly unique day. Home to the 2023 U. S. Hickory Open, Inwood CC provided a preview to what those who are privileged to attend next year will surely remember as special event.

To SoHG tournament organizers: Inwood CC is a course well chosen!

Well, we are finally out of the woods this MHS season. With Hollywood, Ridgewood, and Inwood we have played three hickory venues that can match, and possibly exceed any three offered as a group anywhere. We again thank Rob Wolf for hosting at HGC, Mike Policano and John Exposito for our RCC day, and of course Adam Russell for making ICC available. We are working on one final event for this calendar year and will provide details shortly.

What can we say about the attention to detail we were exposed to by Adam and the staff at Inwood? When something comes together so seamlessly it is evident that much time was spent in background preparation. Even though we were test dummies for next year’s big event, I think each and every one of us left Inwood with 17 close friends in hickory.

Our winners on the day were as geographically diverse as our field:
Low Gross went to Billy Wardwell of Massachusetts
Second Low Gross was our own Brian Schuman of Long Island, N.Y.
Low Reserve was Frank Flood of Connecticut
Second Low Reserve went to John Francis of California

Well done fellows!
