Bill Martin reports:
On June 21, the Metropolitan Hickory Society was blessed to host the 11th annual “Nickel & Dime” at the esteemed Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J. Designed by golden age architect A.W. Tillinghast, RCC has held numerous PGA Tour & U.S. Amateur events. We sincerely thank our gracious hosts MHS co-founder Mike Policano and his fellow Ridgewood member John Esposito. Without them none our visit would not have been possible and for that we are truly grateful.
After the initial threat of thunderstorms, the dark skies cleared and we were treated to spectacular course conditions. Lighting fast greens in tandem with the Sunday pin positions would have given hickory era great Bryon Nelson a run for his money! We enthusiastically embraced the challenge and enjoyed the company of old and new friends alike. Considering the tour-like conditions, many of the scores were quite impressive. The results are as follows:
1st Gross: Michael Stevens (82)
2nd Gross: Brian Schuman (84)
1st Reserve: Jared Paletti (net 72 with a gross of 88 )
2nd Reserve: Ed Desalvio (net 75 with a gross of 107)
