Team USA has retained possession of the Lionel Freedman IHC Globe by taking the singles matches on Thursday, Feb. 25. The score was 12 1/2 to 3 1/2, bringing the final three-day total to 24 1/2 – 7 1/2.
The teams began the day with cooler weather in the low 50s, with brisk winds all day, warming up to the low 60s, with clear, sunny skies all day on the El Campeon course at the Mission Inn Resort at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
All the competitors had a wonderful time, playing competitive hickory golf, renewing old friendships, and beginning new ones.
“The camaraderie was outstanding,” said USA Captain Rick Woeckener. “We look forward to meeting in 2018 somewhere in Europe for the third installment of the International Hickory Cup matches.
